- Be honest: work with integrity, heart, honesty. Don’t be a bullshitter, don’t copy, don’t complain, don’t compare. Be honest, work harder, and if you don’t like something.. be honest with yourself and create change to improve your life!
- Always take the high road: you’re going to have to take a lot of shit, and still walk with a smile. You’re going to have really tough days and down times…don’t forget why you got started & who/what really matters to you + that big heart. You can certainly, gracefully walk and work with a smile, especially when it’s tough. Having good manners, being sincerely kind to others, that’s free. Taking the high road and being kind, even when it’s tough, that takes a true leader.
- Let your work speak for you: there’s no need to boast or brag, let your work and your long, credible resume do the speaking for you. People are watching & the universe/God take notes. Trust that credibility and years of hard work will/do matter. It’s not just on instagram, build that resume IRL, too.
-Keep the faith: you can’t do it alone, believe in yourself, believe in your work. Trust that someone is watching over you. Keep your faith in what makes you feels good, in what and who keeps you going.
- Grit: what I love the most about NYers, and my seven years of writing here, is that we have G R I T. We have tenacity, more than anyone else I’ve ever observed and witnessed in the world. Keep the faith that you are making progress… This is a sweaty, long, taxing, painful, draining marathon: and only those who trained hard, who hydrated, who are strong, those who drowned out the haters + the really lame, boring people, those who kept their head up, those are the strong who will cross that finish line.
