Inspiration > Girl Boss

It's taken me a decade to get to play with the boys, to feel respect from them.

I remember the analogy of paddling out to the lineup when surfing, it was always a boys lineup.

And that’s okay, for every time I struggled, stumbled, every time I didn’t get booked because I had a pony tail, or I was “too girly”, or “she’s just not what we’re looking for”, …that’s okay, because the character I’ve gained + the lessons I’ve learned are deep. And my writing has become even more devout because of my tough times, not because of my successes.
A world without women would be a deeply saddened and very egotistical + machismo place.
Women add softness, women add grace, beauty, resilience + a bright light. Women can walk into a room and turn every head. Men can’t do that.
To all of you beauties in my life, I am grateful. For every hard working woman, every struggling woman, every woman of color, every woman who feels “stuck”, lonely or discriminated against. I stand with you.
My publisher now, is a team of females that have lifted me up, when I needed wings. And sometimes we will all need one another to make it through this journey of insanity, we call life.

With love and grace, from Wall Street, 10:04 am EST xx ck
