Tea, Fitness + Friends: The Best Stress Relief Combo, Evah

Inspiration > Happiness

By: Candice Kumai

Between you and I, being an independent, small biz owner truly presents its challenges.

To relieve stress, I have my tricks and tips, and my favorite way is quite simple: treating myself to a cup (or three!) of quality tea every day.

Every morning when I wake up, instead of immediately looking at my Instagram, I walk over to my kitchen and fill my tea kettle to start my day with a calming cup of tea.

When I’m not drinking matcha, my fave tea of choice is a refreshing herbal creation. When looking for the best stress-relief teas, keep an eye open for lavender (YAS!!), passionflower, chamomile, skullcap + lemon balm. These healing herbs support the nervous system, help to alleviate any tension or stress, and some even promote good digestion!* Traditional Medicinals does an incredible job infusing these specific herbs into delicious blends (try Cup of Calm!) that instantly soothe my mind, mood, body + soul. I discovered this brand years ago back in my Cali days when I budgeted for good health – and I have been hooked ever since.

This brand uses high quality pharmacopoeial grade, organic + non-gmo herbs. I recently learned that Traditional Medicinals’ herbs go through a minimum of nine rounds of testing before they make it into the bag!?

Throughout the day and especially before any big meetings and events, I sip a cup of their relaxing teas (Chamomile is my fave!).

TEA + FITNESS + FRIENDS:

A combination of all three can do you good.

If you’re stuck in a rut or stressed out of your mind — take a deep breath, and read the following because I want to help you out this holiday.

Fitness:  Fitness isn’t a chore, GF, it’s a lifestyle. When I am in a Bar Method class, going on a run or getting my yoga on – that hour or hour and a half (sometimes just fifteen minutes!) is my me-time. A time to escape and do something just for me. If you believe in and realize your own physical strength by taking just a few minutes out of your day to exercise, you will soon embrace and recognize your own mental and emotional strength.

Friends: The best way to remember that YOU are amazing is to spend time with those you love and who love you. Get rid of the negative people in your life and surround yourself with good, positive energy. Invite the gals over for some classy tea like Chamomile with Lavender and some delish homemade banana chocolate chip cookies!  Catch up, chat and uplift each others’ spirits, tis the season for giving, and that can also refer to love, friendship and support!
