With refreshing citrus and special immunity-boosting ingredients like goat’s milk yogurt and probiotics, this smoothie packs a magically blended-berry sunrise for your day. And while you’re at it, toss in some spinach and kale – why not give yourself a little extra pep in your step today?
What contributes to this being the ultimate gut-friendly, skin-healthy, glowing, pro-biotic smoothie? Let’s talk about it…
Antioxidant and enzyme consumption helps fight free radicals, which are unstable atoms that may lead to conditions worse than wrinkles. Thus, you want to fight them in any way you can. It is all about prevention.
Start drinking cleaner and greener and you may notice real improvements in your skin. for an even greater beauty boost, drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen every day! Take good care of yourself, gorgeous. In this recipe, you will see all of these benefits.
Berries
Berries are loaded with anti-inflammatory agents, vitamins, and antioxidants that help protect you from premature aging. The antioxidants in berries help minimize the damage of free radicals, which can accelerate wrinkle formation and cause disease. Berries are packed with vitamin C, which helps produce skin that’s firm and strong. Also known as ascorbic acid, vitamin C is a nutrient that’s essential to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels.
Spinach
Popeye’s main green, spinach or baby spinach, is an edible flowering plant packed with iron, folate, manganese, and vitamins A and K. The iron in spinach helps to provide lots of oxygen for healthy muscles. This super immunity-boosting green is the most popular green used in smoothies and for juicing because it has a subtle, mild flavor and because it’s simple to measure by the handful. One handful of baby spinach is approximately 1 cup.
Strawberries
These bright powerful fruits give you a mega-dose of Vitamin C! They are also are full of manganese, folic acid, potassium, and vitamins B-5 and B-6. They can also help physiologically to improve the regulation of blood sugar levels and aid in cardiovascular health.
Probiotics
Probiotics have been shown to aid digestion and boost the immune system. I purchase probiotics like acidophilus as capsules and prefer to sprinkle one or two into my smoothies as needed. They are virtually impossible to detect in any beverage. Or you can opt for yogurt or a liquid acidophilus product. I’ve been drinking these live-active cultures for years; they help keep your immunity up and your digestive system happy.
Citrus (orange)
Juicy, delicious, and bursting with vitamin C, citrus fruits aid the synthesis of collagen, which keeps skin beautifully elastic and helps wounds heal. Citrus fruits are also rich in flavonoids, compounds that have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and prevent the spread of tumors. The citric acid in lemons and limes acts as a natural preservative and can slow oxidation when added to your Clean Green drinks. Watch lemon juice make those blueberries pop!
Almond Milk
At only 45 calories per cup, this choice is superior to any other. We’ve tried and tested every kind of milk out there, and unsweetened almond milk reigns supreme! Filled with vitamins D and E, phosphorus, and calcium, it can also promote beautiful hair, skin, and nails.
